Dan Jelly............Chairman/Secretary
After graduating from London
University, I taught art and design in schools and Higher Education for 22
years followed by 14 years as one of Her Majesty’s Inspectors of Schools
(HMI). For the next 10 years I was an education consultant in the Channel
Islands and until recently a trustee of an Abbeyfield Home. I am an
organiser of Ottery Walkers and an enthusiastic caravanner. I have lived in
West Hill for 22 years.
Ron Cattermole ...............Vice Chairman and Planning Sub-Committee
I moved to West Hill in 1993,
following retirement from Civil Service. I was a town councillor for eight
years, concluding in May 2007. I have served on committees associated with
the local Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) West Hill Garden Club,
West Hill Village Hall, Ottery Feoffee Charity and Honiton Ring and Ride.
My interests include gardening and travel.
Jim
Cocks............... Treasurer and Planning Sub-Committee
I was born in
Yorkshire and spent most of my early life in London. After graduating, I
joined the computer industry for the next 39 years. I moved to the USA in
1967 working for various companies and managed/installed major international
computer/telecommunications projects. An aged parent brought my wife
Gillian and I back to the UK in 2001, with three American cats, to West
Hill, where we have resided happily since.

Minutes Secretary and Planning Sub-Committee
I moved to West Hill in 2001
having lived in Aylesbeare Parish since 1976. I was a Parish Councillor
there from 1986 to 2001 and I am a Tree Warden in West Hill. I am Secretary
of the West Hill Garden Club and am still involved with Aylesbeare Flower
Show. I represent the W.H.R.A. on the Ottery St Mary Health and Care Team. I
have been involved in farming all my life.
Dick Beardsall

I have lived in West Hill for over 20 years. I am a chartered civil engineer
by profession, more or less retired but I still carry out some consultancy
work and lecturing. I was one of the authors of the Village Design
Statement.
Chris Pittman (Traffic and
Village Hall Committees)
I am married
with two adult children and I have lived most of my life in East Devon apart
from time on Exmoor and the South Pacific. I originally trained in Hotel
Management and then as a Jeweller. After many years in this line I changed
direction and owned and ran a Delicatessen called “Hampers” in Ottery .
After selling the business I ran a pie business with my wife Kate until
retiring six years ago. I have served on the WHRA committee for the past
twenty years.
THE
RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION AIMS TO:

PRESERVE THE
UNIQUE RURAL IDENTITY OF THE VILLAGE,

PROVIDE EFFECTIVE LINKS WITH COUNCILLORS AND OTHER AGENCIES, and,

PROVIDE A FORUM FOR THE DISCUSSION OF VILLAGE ISSUES.
IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE THESE AIMS WE NEED SUPPORT FROM
RESIDENTS IN THE FORM OF MEMBERSHIP (FORMS AT THE POST OFFICE OR ON THE
WEBSITE) AND ATTENDANCE AT MEETINGS.
